2. Discuss upcoming Summer Reading assignment requirements
Beginning of School:
1. School Supplies:
Bring in necessary supplies by Friday, September 13th:
- a pen or pencil
- a 1.5" 3-ring binder
-10 binder dividers
-a Homework folder
-loose leaf paper
2. Summer Reading Assignment:
The Summer Reading Assignment was introduced in June of 2013 in students' 7th grade
English classes, and all students who had attended Watervliet Junior High School
last year were aware that they had to choose 2 novels to read over the summer
from the required reading lists. The Required Reading Lists were sent home in the Quarter 4 Report Cards (See school website for more details.)
I will begin to assess their completion of the assignment through a mandatory oral presentation and an
in-class essay. All students who chose not to read books over the summer will be
heavily penalized, which will significantly affect their Quarter 1 grade.
